Trakindo Supports PT Vale Indonesia in Zero Hour Refurbished Truck Program

As the mining industry focuses on efficiency and sustainability, PT Trakindo Utama supports PT Vale Indonesia Tbk (PTVI) through the Zero Hour Refurbished Truck program. This initiative restores high-hour mining trucks to Zero Hours condition, reducing costs and carbon emissions while enhancing operational efficiency.

Sorowako, January 21, 2025 – PT Trakindo Utama continues to uphold its commitment to supporting customers in enhancing operational efficiency and reducing carbon emissions. As part of this effort, Trakindo has partnered with PT Vale Indonesia Tbk (PTVI) in the Zero Hour Refurbished Truck program, aimed at extending the lifespan of heavy equipment while minimizing capital costs and environmental impact.

Under this program, Trakindo was entrusted with refurbishing the Caterpillar 777D, a 100-ton mining truck that had accumulated 150,000 operational hours. The refurbishment process took place at the Machine Rebuild Center, restoring the unit to a Zero Hours condition, equivalent to a brand-new unit. This initiative is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 30%, or approximately 174 tons per unit, while also increasing the use of locally sourced components (TKDN) by 20%.

Muhammad Hisyam, Manager of Engineering Services at PT Trakindo Utama, expressed his appreciation to PT Vale for its trust in Trakindo for this project. “We continuously strive to provide the best services to our customers. Through this program, we are helping PT Vale improve production efficiency while reducing the cost of investing in new equipment,” he stated.

On Tuesday (January 21), PT Vale officially received the refurbished units from both heavy equipment dealers, PT Trakindo Utama and PT United Tractors. The handover ceremony, held at PT Vale’s Mobile Equipment Maintenance Workshop in Sorowako, was marked by a symbolic presentation of a Scale Model Truck 777D from Muhammad Hisyam to Abu Ashar, Chief Operation and Infrastructure Officer of PT Vale.

Trakindo believes that innovative equipment maintenance solutions, such as the Zero Hour Refurbished Truck program, will support the mining industry’s journey toward sustainability while ensuring productivity and operational efficiency in an increasingly dynamic industry landscape.
