Trakindo Provides New Learning Media in Padang to Support Heavy Equipment Polytechnic Education

Heavy equipment engineering education does have different challenges in the teaching and learning process. Special learning media tools are needed, such as heavy equipment components, to be able to do direct practice for each of these polytechnics. Therefore, in order to support the world of education in the country, PT Trakindo Utama (Trakindo), a provider of Cat® heavy equipment solutions in Indonesia, provided learning media assistance to the Padang State Polytechnic (PNP) in the form of a C7 Engine and a minor component (the starting motor), fuel transfer pump, water pump, and injector).

Through Trakindo Tanjung Enim assistance was given to students of Heavy Equipment Engineering to support teaching and learning activities in the yard of the Trakindo Tanjung Enim office, in the Palembang–Murara Enim Km. 3.5 Kepur Village, South Sumatra.

On this occasion, the Director of the Padang State Polytechnic, Dr. Surfa Yondri, the Deputy Director, Revalin Hardianto, Ph.D., and the Head of the Heavy Equipment Study Program, Andriyanto, M.T., together with 5 lecturers, 2 of whom are ex-employees of Trakindo Utama, namely Ir. Refnal Marzuki and Guswandri, were also present in the procession. The handover event was also attended by 14 employees of Trakindo Tanjung Enim, alumni of the Padang State Polytechnic.

Trakindo Tanjung Site Manager, Efraim Ivan Sampe, said in his remarks that the world of heavy equipment work in the mining industry still has high prospects, so the need for human resources is still wide open in the future. "Synergies are needed between industry players and academic institutions, working together to produce graduates who are ready to work; besides that, safety and health factors need to be instilled since college so that they can become cultural characters or habits that are very useful when they join the world of work," explained Efraim.

The Director of the Padang State Polytechnic, Dr. Surfa Yondri, expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the assistance provided by Trakindo, as well as for the acceptance of 36 graduate students in 2022 at Trakindo. "This assistance is a clear proof of Trakindo's concern for the world of education in an effort to create quality human resources," explained Dr. Surfa Yondri.

The educators of the educational institution that was formerly known as Andalas Polytechnic came directly from Padang to the Trakindo Site Tanjung Enim office, West Sumatra, to show their enthusiasm and gratitude to Trakindo. Moreover, this is the third time that PNP has received assistance during the current director's term of office. "This makes the Padang State Polytechnic more committed to adding classes to the Heavy Equipment Study Program in the coming year, due to the high absorption of resources in the industrial world," added Dr. Surfa Yondri.

In line with the company's mission, which is to participate in the development of quality human resources for the sake of sustainable progress for society, This collaboration is also a concrete manifestation of the synergy built by Trakindo regarding the worlds of education and industry in an effort to improve the competence of students so that they are fully work-ready.
