Supports Customer Sustainability Initiatives through the Handover of Two Refurbished OHT to PT Vale

.

As part of its commitment to supporting customers in advancing sustainability initiatives, Trakindo, through its Sorowako site, has officially handed over two CAT® 777D Off-Highway Truck (OHT) to PT Vale Indonesia Tbk. This initiative also reflects Trakindo’s role in advancing its customers by delivering solutions that are more efficient, reliable, and sustainable.

Both units had previously accumulated more than 150,000 operating hours and were initially planned for decommissioning. Through the Zero Hours Refurbished Truck program, Trakindo redirected the units for a comprehensive rebuild at the Machine Rebuild Center in Trakindo Balikpapan. Over the course of approximately two months, the units underwent extensive component restoration and performance testing, returning them to near-original condition and ensuring readiness for optimal operation.

The handover ceremony took place at Trakindo Workshop in Sorowako and was attended by PT Vale’s Mobile Equipment Maintenance (MEM) and Mine Operation teams. This program not only extends the equipment’s service life but also contributes to reducing scrap metal waste, aligning with more environmentally responsible mining practices.

Looking ahead, Trakindo remains committed to delivering solutions that align with customer needs, including advancing the development of electric-powered heavy equipment as part of the industry’s transition toward lower-emission operations.
