Eco-Friendly PPE for a Sustainable Future

HPPE-based PPE offers high durability, cost efficiency, and enhanced workplace safety

Trakindo reaffirmed its commitment to workplace safety and environmental sustainability through an innovative approach to using eco-friendly Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This initiative earned Trakindo Lati Site the Best Innovation Award in the Waste Reduction Ideas and Innovation Competition organized by PT Berau Coal, Lati, in celebration of World Environment Day 2025.

The initiative began with an evaluation of cotton gloves previously used as the main PPE, which were prone to damage and generated significant hazardous waste. Trakindo Lati Site then switched to High Performance Polyethylene (HPPE) gloves, which offer greater durability, flexibility, and long-term efficiency. As a result, waste volume was reduced by up to 85%, while procurement and disposal costs were cut by nearly half.

Beyond sustainability, HPPE gloves also enhance worker safety and comfort with their anti-slip feature and resistance to cuts. This innovation aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 12 and 13, demonstrating that workplace safety and environmental preservation can go hand in hand.
