Building Excellent Mining Talent Through Heavy Equipment Support

Strengthening mining education, Trakindo partners with PT Freeport Indonesia to equip IPN with industry-standard excavator.

As part of its commitment to vocational education development, PT Trakindo Utama (Trakindo) has donated an industry-standard excavator to the Nemangkawi Mining Institute (IPN), a technical training center owned by PT Freeport Indonesia (Freeport Indonesia), on March 27, 2025. This donation is part of a strategic collaboration between Trakindo and Freeport Indonesia to strengthen technical training in the mining sector, particularly in Papua.

The Cat 330D excavator, which is commonly used in real mining operations, is now available as a hands-on training tool for IPN students. This equipment enables participants to develop practical technical skills aligned with the demands of the mining industry, enhancing their readiness for the workforce.

“As a heavy equipment dealer, we believe that the best investment is in people. Through practice-based training like this, we are confident that IPN graduates will be better prepared to meet the challenges of today’s and tomorrow’s mining industry,” said Djarot Adhi, Surface Operation Manager of Trakindo Tembagapura.

Beyond simply donating equipment, this collaboration reflects a shared vision between Trakindo and Freeport Indonesia to transform vocational education—making it more adaptive to technological advancements and the operational needs of modern mining. The donated excavator is equipped with the latest features, designed to offer a high-quality learning experience while reinforcing the importance of efficiency and safety in the workplace.

Trakindo believes that sustainable development requires collaboration from all stakeholders. Through this partnership, Trakindo is not only providing equipment but also supporting the development of skilled human resources who will be the backbone of Indonesia’s future mining industry.
